Tagine of Marinated Chicken with Spices

This tagine of marinated chicken with spices is a delicious and easy-to-make dinner. You can adjust the level of spiciness to your taste. Serve it with couscous or steamed vegetables.

  • 1 kg chicken thighs, cut into small pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 500 ml water

In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with the onions and garlic. Add the olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, salt and pepper. Mix everything together until the chicken is well coated. Cover the bowl with clingfilm and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours.

Heat a large saucepan over medium heat and add the marinated chicken. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.

Serve hot with couscous or steamed vegetables.
