  • 1 whole chicken (4-5 lb)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Rinse the chicken and pat dry with paper towels. In a bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, chili powder and cayenne. Rub the mixture over the entire surface of the chicken. Place the chicken in a roasting pan and drizzle with olive oil. Roast in preheated oven for 1 hour 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Once done, brush the BBQ sauce over the top of the chicken and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes.
