Creamy Chicken Soup

This creamy chicken soup is a delicious and comforting meal for cold days. It is made with shredded cooked chicken, vegetables and cream. Serve it with some toasted bread or croutons for a complete meal.


  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions, carrots, celery, and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add the chicken broth while stirring constantly.
  3. Bring the soup to a boil then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and shredded chicken. Cook for 5 minutes or until heated through.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
