This traditional Christmas dish is the perfect holiday appetizer. A savory combination of pork, vegetables, and spices wrapped in a flaky, buttery crust makes for a delicious treat any time of year.
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground pork
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup beef broth
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 package (14 oz.) frozen puff pastry dough, thawed according to package directions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground pork until browned. Add the onion and celery and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Add the salt, pepper, parsley, and thyme and mix well. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and add the beef broth. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to low.
