Chicken Tajine with Dried Fruits {Prunes}

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ¼ cup dried apricots, chopped
  • ¼ cup prunes, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth or water


  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic, ginger, turmeric, cumin, and coriander and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Add the chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned on both sides, about 5 minutes per side.
