Chicken Mhamer Moroccan-Style (Easy Recipe)

This easy Chicken Mhamer Moroccan-Style recipe is the perfect way to enjoy a classic Moroccan favorite without spending hours in the kitchen. A flavorful combination of spices and herbs, combined with succulent chicken pieces, make this dish an absolute delight.


  • 1 kg chicken pieces
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups chicken stock or water


  1. In a large bowl, mix together the onions, garlic, ginger, cumin, coriander and turmeric. Add the chicken pieces and coat them in the spice mixture.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the spiced chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the tomato paste and stir to combine. Pour in the chicken stock or water and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot and simmer for 30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
