Canette à l’Orange

This delicious recipe for Canette à l’Orange is a classic French dish that has been enjoyed for generations. It is a simple and flavorful way to prepare duck, and the orange sauce adds an extra layer of flavor. This recipe takes a bit of time to prepare, but the end result is worth it.


  • 1 canette (whole duck)
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 2 tablespoons honey


  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the canette in a roasting pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. Rub the mixture all over the canette.
  3. Roast in preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the wine, orange juice, orange zest and honey. Simmer until reduced by half.
  5. Brush the reduced sauce over the canette and continue roasting until golden brown and cooked through, about 30 minutes more. Serve with more of the warm sauce.
