Candied Lemons

Candied lemons are a sweet and sour treat made by boiling thin slices of lemon in a sugar syrup. They are perfect for adding a zesty flavor to a variety of dishes, from baked goods to salads. This recipe is simple, but it does require some time and patience.

  • 4 lemons, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

  1. Combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  2. Add the lemon slices and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the lemons to cool completely in the syrup.
  4. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
